1. Graduate school ranting, questions and general madness.

I have to admit I don’t know much about Universities in the UK other than program names, reputation, faculty, etc… but is it normal to be accepted somewhere without an interview?  Especially for a graduate program.  Also accommodation is done differently, (as sad as it sounds) I’m not sure I really know how to go about applying for housing!  And then there’s the whole ‘conditional’ offer thing.  Yes, I’ve been accepted but I need to get a second reference from a professor, and she sent it in on Monday.  I still haven’t heard from the University if they received it or not, do you guys think I should e-mail the secretary of the department and ask (I feel like I’m being annoying with all of the questions I’ve been asking her)?

    1. dead-men-talking answered: I wasn’t interviewed for University of Bristol. Also it can take awhile for mail to get overseas, then to be read. I’d give it another week.
    2. katerader answered: I was accepted to a grad program in the Netherlands without an interview. When you formally accept, they send you info about housing.
    3. vmushroom answered: It’s their job to answer questions, it doesn’t hurt to send an e-mail and ask.
