First graduate school rejection letter.
I’d like to say I’m upset, but that would be a complete lie on my part.  You see I’m not even sure why I applied to the University of Chicago.  Their archaeology program, not gonna lie, is pretty cool: the Celtic Iron Age, imperialism, Greco-Roman colonial expansion, all cool shit. However, Physical Anthropology-A tiny sub-field offering taught by one professor -  is...

archaeologicalnews: A British couple arrested in Egypt on suspicion of trying to smuggle priceless artifacts out of the country will return home tonight after it emerged that the objects had in fact been purchased at a local tourist bazaar. Michael Newey, 65, and his wife Angela, 62, were stopped at Luxor…

Alright followers/anyone who feels like it.  As an international student, I want to get a feel for the University of Leicester since it would be pretty much impossible for me to visit before heading over next fall. Tell me all about the city, the university, the Archaeology program, accommodation, and whatever else you think is important.   So everyone, what’s it like?

Graduate school ranting, questions and general...
I have to admit I don’t know much about Universities in the UK other than program names, reputation, faculty, etc… but is it normal to be accepted somewhere without an interview?  Especially for a graduate program.  Also accommodation is done differently, (as sad as it sounds) I’m not sure I really know how to go about applying for housing!  And then there’s the whole...

Journeys Through Grief – Part 1: Bioarch in... →
oldowan: Not palaeo, but I occasionally feel the need to post something Irish.  The Galway to Ballinasloe N6 road scheme in the Republic of Ireland was 56 km long: metre for metre, one of the largest archaeological projects anywhere in the world. The archaeology found along the scheme has shed new light on the treatment of the dead at crucial stages of Irish history. In the first of our new...

Saw "The Innkeepers" at a midnight showing.
Like, NO, NO you do not get to sleep tonight.  Honestly I had my eyes closed for 90% of this movie and I’m still freaked out.  I’m just shitty with horror movies, even ones that by many wouldn’t be considered scary.  Whatever.  Never. Again.
